Our weekend in Atlanta

I decided at the last minute to go to Atlanta with my Grandparents last Thursday to spend the weekend with my Aunt Carolyn and cousin Rachel for Rachel's 17th birthday! We had a great time. We got to see alot of family that we haven't seen in years and this was the first time that they had seen Jack. Before we left on Thursday morning Jack started crawling. Yeah! (I thought). My Grandmother says that she taught him:) He is still slow (thank God), but can get around just about anywhere he wants to go. I think that the fun has just begun.

Jack and Rachel! He just loved his cousin!

Closeup. Jack loves to pose for the camera now!
Sunday night we cooked out with our friends Sena and Robby at our house. This is a picture of Jack attempting to eat a cracker. Ha! Bailey is his best friend these days. Jack takes a bite and then Bailey gets a bite. Poor Bella!! For anyone that may be visiting in the future I will apologize for Bailey begging for food ahead of time. He is ruined. How do you say no to 2 precious boys!

Jack is getting ready for his Gigi to come and visit this weekend. We are having a long overdue couples night out Saturday night, so Gigi is coming to watch Jack! We can't wait!! Have a great week.

Our Big Weekend

We had a busy weekend. My Dad, Kim, and Maw Maw and Paw Paw came to visit. We all went to lunch on Saturday at The Cheesecake Factory and then headed to the zoo for the afternoon. I will have to say that I didn't realize how nice the Birmingham Zoo was. They had a wonderful children's zoo with tons to do for the kids. Jack was a little too young to enjoy the fountains and the petting zoo, but he did enjoy the carousel. After a little while he decided to take a nap and missed most of the rest of the zoo. We all enjoyed it though. We left early because Nanny Lindsay had a HOT DATE! Sunday we got up, went to church, ate a wonderful lunch that Cookie and Maw Maw cooked, and then sadly had to tell everyone bye. Jack said "bye bye" all weekend long, but would not wave bye when they were leaving the driveway.
Look how precious!
This is the only family picture that we have!

I just love this picture of Jack and Brandon:)

Jack and Nanny had a great time on the carousel!

Jack had the best spot in the zoo. I really wish they made these for adults:)

9 Month Check Up

Jack had his 9 month check up with Dr. Dudgeon this morning. He was 21 lbs. 12 oz. and 29" long. He is in the 75% for both weight and height. He is still trying to cut his 2 top teeth. The doctor said that he must just be a slow teether because you can see the outline of the teeth. Poor thing:( Dr. Dudgeon said that he was doing great. He got a kick out of Jack waving and saying "bye bye". That is all that he did the whole time. Jack is sooooooooooo close to crawling. He got his first bump on his head yesterday when his Nanny Lindsay was keeping him. She felt so bad, but we reassured her it was the first of many bumps and bruises. He goes backwards but hasn't mastered forward yet. He still manages to move himself around the house though.

Jack is getting very excited because his Cookie and Maw Maw and Paw Paw(Great-Grandparents) are coming to visit tomorrow for the weekend. We are going to the zoo on Saturday, so it should be a fun weekend.

I hope that everyone has had a great week and has a great weekend!

Jack's Big Weekend

We had a great weekend. Friday night we went to Whitney's 30th birthday party and Saturday Monique came to visit. Jack shopped all day with the girls and didn't really enjoy it. Mimi kept Jack Saturday night so the Mo and I could go to dinner and catch up. We had a great time at dinner and then met Brandon and some friends out for drinks later. Sunday we watched the Masters and went to a birthday party for our friend Daniel who was turning 4. Jack and Ann Rogers had a blast hanging out together. Ann Rogers enjoyed pulling Jack's hair while Jack enjoyed hitting her in the face. They were really cute!

Jack wants to crawl really bad and is very close. He will get on all fours now and rock. He will even move backwards a little. This morning I was in the bedroom folding clothes and Jack was watching cartoons and playing in the living room. I heard a clanging noise that sounded like he was banging a toy on the armoire or the coffee table so I walked around the corner to check on him. Somehow he managed to get to the other side of the room and was clanging the handle of a huge clay vase that I have:) Looks like I can't take my eye off of him anymore!! Time to childproof the house.

We also want to welcome the newest addition to the Martin Family!
Elena Jo Martin was born this morning. She was 6 lbs. 15 oz. and 19" long. We will post pictures when the proud parents and big sister send them out.
I hope everyone is having a great Monday and has a great week!!

Precious Jack

Sorry it has been a few days. We have had a pretty boring week I guess. Friday night we went to Whitney's 30th birthday party and had a blast. When we got home Brandon packed up and left to go to the camp for a "work" weekend:( Jack and I went to bed to get ready for our big Saturday with Mo! Well, I think that Jack was really excited that Mo was coming or really upset that Dad was gone for the night because he woke up at 3:00 a.m. and didn't go back down until 5:15 a.m. I brought him down to sleep with me, so that I could just get a little sleep, but all he wanted to do was play. Bella and Bailey were not very happy. I thought surely he will sleep a litte later since he was up so late...dumb Mom... I woke up at 8:00 a.m. to "dada" and "bye bye" on the monitor. Good thing I love him so much!!

Bailey and Bella now love Jack because he likes to feed them his bagels and crackers instead of eating them! What can you do:)

Jack's 1st Tornado Warning

We had awful weather in Birmingham on Friday with tornadoes all around us. At about 2:00 the sirens went off by our house(for those of you from Louisiana, this means get to your safe place). I watch the weather to find out that we are in the vicinity of where a tornado has a possibility to occur. I grab our pillows and blankets and walk out into the living room with Jack to the sound of hail hitting all of our windows. I had never seen anything like it before. They were at least the size of golf balls. My neighbors were on the back porch trying to catch them. I gather up the dogs and put Bailey, Bella, and Jack in the powder room. I leave the room for 1 minute to grab the radio because we have lost signal on the tv and when I open the door Jack has managed to unroll the entire roll of toilet paper and is wrapped in it, eating it, and having the best time of his life. It was hilarious. I can't take my eyes off of him for a second. As usual there was no need for me to go to shelter, but with Jack it is better safe than sorry. The dogs look thrilled while Jack is having a blast in the toilet paper. Tornado????

Our First Blog Experience

Okay, I have finally taken the time to set our family blog up! Everyone has been trying to get me to do Facebook or My Space for years and I just couldn't do it, but I love the idea of a blog. As I have time I will try to go back and start from the beginning of Jack's life but for now I will start at 8 1/2 months and update this as often as he will allow. Just a quick recap to catch everyone up on Jack's progress. He is not crawling yet, but I don't think it will be too long. He gets up on his knees but then decides he would rather sit and spin himself around to his destination. If he is not spinning he is rolling everywhere. He now says "momma" and "baba or bye bye", and the occasional "dada". We have been trying finger foods for about 2 weeks now and he would rather eat the nasty baby food. Bella and Bailey are loving it because it all goes to them instead of in Jack's mouth. The finger foods that he does like are bagels, crackers, cheese, bananas, and cheerios, but he will not eat them unless one of us puts them in his mouth. Can we say lazy:) His temper is strarting to show. Most of you will find this hard to believe since his Mom and Dad are both so even tempered. Ha!
